MBCT's Medea is heavily influenced by both the “German Expressionism” and “Film Noir” genres; sharp physical movements that convey the emotional extremes of the characters and a classic “black and white” look are just a few of the aspects that make this MEDEA a unique theatrical experience.
Modern But Classical Theatre (Miriam Tobin, Artistic Director) produces classic theatre for a modern audience by finding new and innovative ways of combining different styles and media for the stage and by forming an athletic ensemble of actors who use their bodies and voices to perform all types of characters, no matter their age, sex, race, or other physical qualities.

Oh, Those Beautiful Weimar Girls is based on the life and artistry of the actor/dancer/poet who epitomized for many the decadence of Weimar-era Berlin. The play was inspired by The Seven Addictions and Five Professions of Anita Berber by Berber's principal biographer, Mel Gordon, which dubs her "Weimar Berlin's Priestess of Depravity."
With original and classical music, dance and striking stage design, the production will recreate Anita Berber's life in a series of cabaret-styled performances, including much of her "repertoire of the damned." This play occurs 80 years after her tragic passing and aims, according to playwright Mark Altman, to "capture her indomitable spirit and inspire young and old alike to rage against the night."
Choreography is by Julia Atlas Muz and Peter Schmitz. Lighting design is by Federico Restrepo. Costume design is by Javier Bone Carbone.

May 15, 16, 17, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 at 7:30 PM
May 18 and 25 at 4:00 PM
The Tragedy of King Richard 3 is set on the backdrop of a civil war called the War of the Roses. Richard Gloucester, brother to the king carves his obsessive path toward the crown using whatever means necessary; however the pieces in his way, mainly the queen and her allies make it difficult for an easy grasp of the crown. Once achieved, Richard's kingdom is jeopardized by extreme paranoia, betrayal, and mobilized enemies. It is not until Richard has a frightful, cursing nightmare that he discovers his villainy. Given a second chance to resolve his violent dictatorship, he marches toward war which will no doubt end in a "black day to...somebody."

C’EST DUCKIE!
U.S. PREMIERE PRESENTED BY PERFORMANCE SPACE 122 IN ASSOCIATION WITH FOSTER ENTERTAINMENT
Previews begin Thursday, December 20 Opening Night is Sunday, December 23 7:30pm
Performance Space 122 imports London-based performance troupe Duckie and their smash hit, C’est Duckie!, the Olivier Award-Winning, interactive nightclub performance experience, for a wild and absolutely outrageous alternative to traditional holiday fare. Starring in C’est Duckie are Marisa Carnesky, Joshua Sofaer, Kazuko Hohki and Miss High Leg Kick. Patrons should note, a dress code of swanky evening attire is recommended in order to fully complement and experience the (somewhat questionably) glamorous surroundings…
Following sold-out seasons in London, Sydney, Berlin, and Toyko, C’est Duckie!, “London’s Table Top Christmas Performance Palais,” serves up a menu of daring, delectable and devious entertainments that result in tailor-made, table-top shows from a top class talent troupe of soubrettes, hoofers, and starlets from the London performance scene as well as special guest artists from New York City including Taylor Mac, Jessica Delfino, Dynasty Handbag and Peggy Shaw.*
(*1 special guest per show)
Armed with Duckie dollars upon entering, guests at each table can order from a show menu of craftily titled “acts” at will. Shows include a variety of theatrical fare – vaudeville, ventriloquism, balloon modeling, broken down burlesque - with over 30 kunst-cabaret turns from the suggestive to the transgressive to the downright offensive.
Pitching popular commercial entertainment against contemporary performance provocation, Duckie proves that Performance Art is the new table dancing in this all-singing, all-dancing shameless crowd-pleaser.
At last, whether they’ve been naughty or nice, New Yorkers can experience this swanky showbiz spectacular for themselves.
Recommended for ages 18 and over; 21+ to drink alcohol. Patrons please note a dress code of swanky evening wear is requested.
