The Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural & Educational Center Inc. is a Puerto Rican/Latino cultural institution that has demonstrated a broad-minded cultural vision and a collaborative philosophy. While CSV's mission is focused on the cultivation, presentation, and preservation of Puerto Rican and Latino culture, it is equally determined to operate in a multi-cultural and inclusive manner, housing and promoting artists and performance events that fully reflect the cultural diversity of the Lower East Side and the city as a whole.
- To foster, promote and support the development of the arts, in its various disciplines, within the Puerto Rican - Latino Community
- To foster, promote and support the development, exhibition and appreciation of Puerto Rican-Latino arts within the city and state of New York, in particular within the United States generally.
- To establish liaison with other like minded people/organizations regardless of their ethnic origins.
- To sponsor art exhibits and performances within and without the corporation's facilities.
- To serve as a resource center and clearinghouse for information for the Puerto Rican - Latino community on Latino arts.
- To foster, promote and develop through education the knowledge skills and awareness of the individual Puerto Rican - Latino artists.
- To foster, promote and develop through education the Puerto Rican - Latino community's knowledge and awareness of Puerto Rican - Latino culture ingeneral.
- To establish relationships and to work cooperatively with other private and public agencies having similar purposes.
- To solicit and secure grants-in-aid whether federal, state, municipal or otherwise in furtherance of the foregoing purposes.
- To conduct any and all purposes in connection with or incidental to any of the foregoing purposes and as are lawful for a not-for-profit corporation.
